The habit of gossiping is often regarded as something bad and useless. A study proves otherwise, gossip can actually increase self-confidence (self esteem) at least for the short term.

Bad assumption about the rumors or gossip, especially coming from those who gossiped about. Someone who was rumored would normally feel uncomfortable because of his business so to say.

But for those who gossip, this activity proved to have benefits. When active gossiping, a person tends to feel a sense of support from neighborhood gossip to whom.

This is evidenced in a study at Staffordshire University, England recently. The results have been presented at the British Psychological Society conference, September 7, 2010.

The study involved 160 respondents, asked to fill out questionnaires about the tendency to gossip. Respondents with a high predilection gossip tend to feel more has support from its environment.

Especially for the gossip they are positive or talk about the good side of someone, its benefits even more. For short-term, positive gossip it gives high confidence in people who mempergunjingkannya.

"This type of specific rumor, especially those that talk about the good of others can provide a positive impact on the gossip while in general the gossip still regarded as a bad thing," said one of the researchers involved, Jennifer Cole as quoted from HealthDay, Monday
